CLERGY
Benjamin Hart
Rector
Rev. Benjamin was called to serve as Rector at St. Luke's by Vestry in July of 2023. His ministry at St. Luke's began in October of 2023.
Benjamin grew up in the Diocese of Kentucky, at St. John’s in Murray, where he was baptized and confirmed. He was ordained an Episcopal priest in 2014 and served two years at Grace Episcopal Church in Hopkinsville, Kentucky before moving to Louisville to begin his ministry at St. Matthew’s.
Benjamin holds an MDiv from Virginia Theological Seminary, and a BFA in printmaking from Murray State University.
He is also an artist and when not exploring the yard and going on adventures with his son, he spends his free time making things. He trained as a printmaker and a bookbinder before going to seminary and has found time in his life to continue those types of work in each place he has lived.
As a priest in the Church Benjamin believes he is called to lead, love, and serve a community of disciples sacramentally and pastorally; organize, preach, and teach in a congregation; and to pursue the Kingdom of God in the world by engaging in the works of outreach and social justice. He has also come to realize a calling in his ministry to new, creative work in the church communities that he has been apart of in the past.
