ACOLYTES
The dictionary defines Acolytes as
“ laypeople belonging to the highest of the minor orders whose duties are concerned with
attendance at the Altar and carrying candles”.
For us at St. Luke’s, Acolytes are vital to the beauty of our services. They are middle and high school aged young people who are taught to assist in all services.
Everyone in grade 5 or higher is encouraged to serve,

Young people gain a great amount of personal confidence, responsibility and
pride in serving the Congregation in this way. Please take notice of their diligence
and do continually tell them what a good job they are doing.
